Have you ever wondered what it is that makes a big city big? Why are so many people attracted to, and continue to be attracted to, cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and others? What makes a zip in San Diego or any other city more popular than others? Really, it's a combination of factors. Here's a look at a few important areas and what San Diego has to offer within them that make it such a great choice to live.
Geography
San Diego is unlike most other cities in the United States simply due to its beauty. Located right on the Pacific Coast, it lacks a lot of the pollution that its neighbor Los Angeles puts out. Compared to cities such as Houston, San Diego is considered downright pristine. The area's natural beauty is complicated by the architectural styles which it encourages. People dock their boats with winged keels in several high end marinas up and down the coast, and the municipal buildings are renowned for their architecture.
Economy
Several different sectors help to keep the San Diego economy growing, even when there is a recession on in the rest of the country. Defense is one of the most important sectors in the city, responsible for the most employment as well. There are several military bases, which is why on occasion you might see the occasional lane diverter steering people away from certain parts of the area.
Manufacturing is next up on the list, although we are not talking strictly plant production here. Instead, San Diego is home to many technological manufacturing operations, including many in the biotech industry. People find it a better investment to put money into the biotech market of Sand Diego even more than gold bullion bars, because of its sheer size. In fact, the city has the largest biotech cluster to be found in the United States.
Rounding out the top three industries is the tourism sector. Almost everyone has heard of the San Diego zoo, and that's just one of the many things to do in the San Diego area. Indeed, any owner of an Ontario franchise would do well to set up in the area, as most tourism oriented businesses tend to thrive here.
Things to do
Last but not least on our list of things people look for in a city is the entertainment. The fact that San Diego is a major tourist center should tell you that there are plenty of things to do in the city. Seaworld and Legoland draw the attention of thousands of people every year. Riverside Bankruptcy lawyers drop their kids off at the beach while they go enjoy a round or two of golf; and of course everyone likes to cheer on the Chargers and the Padres.
